Normally, playing a team ranked 3rd in the west should give us chills, but when we are playing our sworn enemies to the south at home, I have trouble imagining what a better time would be to break the losing streak. I’ll be at hudson’s having some beers and cheering the oil on. Make us proud.

For the yahoo sports stream you need to watch through a proxy, the best proxy i have found is called hotspot shield (it works and it’s easy to use).  Find more info on using proxies here.

]]> http://blog.errorok.com/2009/02/11/115/feed/ 0 Oilers vs. Blackhawks http://blog.errorok.com/2009/02/03/96/ http://blog.errorok.com/2009/02/03/96/#comments Tue, 03 Feb 2009 18:47:18 +0000 admin http://blog.errorok.com/?p=96 Oilers face the Blackhawks tonight in a pay per view match starting at 7:00 PM MST.  The hawks are 9 points ahead of us and currently sitting in 4th place in the western conference.  After the terrible defeat against the predators in their previous match, most would normally dread tonight’s match.  However, I have a different view on the matter.  I have noticed a trend (which I am sure most other Oilers fans have caught onto as well) that the Oilers often fair better on the teams ranked above them and show difficulty on the teams ranked below.  Now this is hardly a forecastable metric, but after losing to a team they should have beaten, and playing a team that is not on a hot streak (or a cold streak, because sometimes that matters too), the Oilers have an emotional advantage.  Here is my list of pros and cons for the game:

Pros

  • Oilers playing last home game before hitting the road
  • Oilers coming off an unexpected home loss, expect them to want to redeem themselves in front of their fans
  • Hawks had a good December, but a rough January.

Cons

  • Hawks beat the Sharks on the 31st, could be a confidence booster
  • Pressure is on the Oilers to perform tonight after the previous match

There you have it, I suspect this will be a good match and everyone knows that the Oilers could use the 2 points.  Since the game is on PPV you will either have to pay your cable company or watch it via the video stream at the bottom of this post.  myp2p.eu has been receiving a lawyering lately, so they are not posting any NHL links until things are resolved (or possibly never again), even the forums are closed as you can see from that second link.  So watch the game from the ATDHE.net link below and cheer on the Oilers!

UPDATE: I just remembered that the previous match between these two teams was a brutal loss that saw the Blackhawks score an astounding 9 goals over 3 periods.  This is all the more reason for the Oilers to be pumped up to win this match.  After the first period, things are looking good!

Oilers are just a hair above the Blue Jackets in the stats.  Coming off that great win against the Coyotes, we can only hope that this will be an exciting game.  I will sadly miss a good portion of this game as I have dinner reservations at 7:30 at Jack’s Grill, hopefully there is a tv somewhere near our table :)

]]> http://blog.errorok.com/2009/01/20/76/feed/ 0 A Great Night for the Oilers http://blog.errorok.com/2009/01/19/71/ http://blog.errorok.com/2009/01/19/71/#comments Mon, 19 Jan 2009 21:56:31 +0000 admin http://blog.errorok.com/?p=71 This is just a quick post about how the oilers really pulled together last night.  First we had Andy’s jersey retirement ceremony, which was nice (although I am more interested in the game, the guy really was a model citizen).  The game began and we started out by playing catchup.  I always dislike when we  have to work extra hard just to get the equalizer, but as soon as we did the flood gates opened.  I don’t want to rewrite the play by play, so here are the highlights.

  • Hemsky is back after a 10 game hiatus
  • Hemsky scores 2 goals his first game back!!!
  • Moreau scores his first NHL hat trick on an empty net with 0.4 seconds to go
  • Oilers only take two penalties, the first being coincidental, the only real penalty coming late in the third period

It was all-in-all just a great game to watch.  I don’t know if staying out of the penalty box was the reason for all the success, but it certainly helped a lot.  Instead of concentrating on killing a penalty we were concentrating on playing real hockey.  Everything just came together.

Next post coming up will actually have the online sources for watching tomorrow’s game (BEFORE the game starts!!!)
